The following social studies courses are offered at Summit Academy:
SS 07 Social Studies
This course traces the events and their effects on the United States and the world from the beginning of the U.S. Civil War to World War II. An emphasis on geographic themes and concepts will be incorporated, as well as economics and the study of the role of government and citizenship.
SS 08 Social Studies
This course begins with examining the events leading to the creation of the United States and the background for the writing of the U.S. Constitution. The students will learn about the structure of American government, including a historical foundation and survey of the economic system in the U.S. It continues with the events of the Great Depression in the United States, as well as world events during the same time period, through present day global issues.
SS 21 World History / Geography I (Fall)
Traces the development of civilizations from early prehistoric people to the Renaissance and Reformation and includes the teaching of geographic concepts. NOTE: this course meets half of the high school graduation requirement for World History.
SS 22 World History / Geography II (Spring)
Traces the development of civilizations from Exploration to the present and includes the teaching of geographic concepts. NOTE: this course meets half of the high school graduation requirement for World History.
