Reporting Absences

Please notify the Sunridge office at 472-3575 as soon as possible, providing the student’s name, grade, teacher’s name and the reason for the absence. If your child’s absence will be more than two days, notify the teacher if you need to request homework.

Student Drop-Off

The student drop-off for AM. kindergarten and grades 1-6 will be in the alley behind the school. You may enter at the east entrance on Guadalupe.

• The gate will open at 7:35 AM.
• The classroom doors in the back will be opened at 7:40, but the teachers and their aides will not be outside to help your children out of the car. The staff will be using this time to prepare for class to start promptly at 7:55.
• The classroom alley doors will close at 7:55. The office door will be open. Please drop your children at the door so they can get a tardy slip before going to class.

You may then exit out of the alley onto Extension. PM kindergarten enter their classroom through the front of the building at 11:40 AM. Please park and walk your children to room 101. Students arriving after 11:40 must go to the office for a tardy slip.

Student Pick-Up

When using the alley to pick up your student, please display your child’s name and room number using the colored placard in the car window. If you are picking up more than one child, please display all room numbers and children’s names. Tape sign to right side of window so it can be easily read. Classroom Placard Colors: Room 101-pink, Room 102-yellow, Room 103-blue, Room 105-green, Room 106-purple, Room 108-red, Room 100-turquoise

Front Parking Lot

It is important to use caution in the front parking lot as there is a lot of traffic and many pedestrians and bicycle riders present. Do not stop anywhere along the cones or the parking spaces to drop off students. If there is a bus present and you want to pull up in front of the office, pull into the lane in front of the bus. If you bring your children in the front lot instead of using the alley behind the school, you must park in a designated space and walk your child to the sidewalk.

Do not use the gated driveway on Extension by the parking lot to drop off or pick up students.

Visiting and Calling the Campus

• Visitors on campus must stop in the office, sign in and obtain a visitor badge.
• When volunteering for any activity at school, please check in at the office and sign in our volunteer “guest book” on your own sheet. We want you to become known to all our students, staff, and other volunteers and ask that you make sure to put on your volunteer nametag before beginning your activity. Our students have been instructed, as part of our personal safety program, that adults wearing volunteer nametags are invited guests of the school.
• Classroom Visits - Please do not go to your child’s classroom even if you are just dropping off homework, lunch, or money without checking in office first. We would like very much not to interrupt learning and testing time. If you are on campus and are not wearing a visitor or volunteer badge, you can expect to be asked by our staff to go to the office and sign in. (Please be patient with us while we get to know you and if we have to ask for I.D.)
• Messages - Please make sure your children have their after school instructions before they leave home in the morning. We cannot guarantee messages will get relayed and interrupting classrooms with messages is very disruptive.
• You can call teachers directly in their classrooms. During class hours, the class phones will ring directly over to voicemail and you may leave a message.

Dress Code

The district dress code rules are enforced at Sunridge. This means students get one warning before action is taken. Click here for the district dress code. Please support us by selecting appropriate school clothing.

Lunches

1st-6th Graders eat lunch at school. Lunches can either be brought from home or purchased from the cafeteria. Please put names on lunch boxes. There is no microwave or refrigerator available for the students.
