Bulldog Byte Winter 2016
Project Wisdom is a collection of daily messages that are rich in history, culture, and literature. This program has a proven track record of delivering positive results. The Project Wisdom program is used at over 17,000 schools across the country and reaches more than four million students. Now your student can benefit from the program here at Superstition High School! Ask your child what the message was today!
Spotlight New Staff
We would like to welcome two new staff members, Maria Esquerra and Erica Young!
Maria Esquerra is our Security Specialist. She has two children, Sieana and Jacob. She graduated high school and will be earning a Religious Studies Certificate this summer from V.E.T.I. She is also a youth leader at her church. She has worked in the security field for ten years. Her first five years were in corrections, during that time the desire and passion to help young people became stronger and she decided to work for schools. She has worked at Adams Elementary, Mesa Jr. High, and Mesa High. She believes that everyone has the power to change.
Erica S. Young is our High School Social Worker. She is married to Jerry and they have three children: Chantell, Emmanuel, and Jeremiah. She served in the United States Air Force for seven years. She got her Bachelor's degree from University of Maryland in Criminal Justice and her first Masters degree from Capella University in Counseling Psychology. She also has a dual Masters degree from Arizona State University in Social Work and Public Administration. This is her fifth year as a social worker. She discovered that she loved helping to empower others while working as an Instructional Assistant for SPED.
Service Learning is going strong. Students in this class recently finished making seventy blankets for two separate organizations: Blankets for Kids and the Mesa Child Crisis Center. Blankets were delivered last week and the community response was uplifting. Some small child in crisis will be able to hold onto a blanket for some much needed love in a time of need. These blankets will provide both security and warmth thanks to the work from this class.
Every Wednesday, STORM heads out to the Old Apache Trail to clean up liter found on the side of the road. This is a group effort that has greatly improved our community. We average approximately four bags of garbage per trip. This saves our city time and money.

Spotlight: Art Club
Art club has been working hard to improve our school! They have completed a mural in the cafeteria and are working on another near the school garden. The cafeteria mural is a bulldog with our PBIS moto, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. This beautiful mural is a great display of what Superstition High School is all about and the talents of our students and staff!
