19-20 Information:

Schedules

All schedules should have the following academic classes ELA (English Language Arts), Math, Science and Social Studies.

All students are required by the district to complete 1 semester of PE (physical education) each year and 1 semester of CB02 Computer Essentials in 7th or 8th grade.

Please note administration requires some students be enrolled in AI30 Academic Intervention Math or Reading. These placements are based on previous AzMERIT scores and teacher recommendations.

General electives- 7th grade students have 2 semester long or 1 year long elective, while 8th graders have 1 additional if they completed CB02 in 7th grade. We do our best to accommodate student's elective requests. Unfortunately due to limited sections, we may not be able to place them in all of their top selections. We also had a significant number of students that did not submit a course request form and we chose their electives for them. The only general elective changes will be to add or drop a performing art. However, if you choose to drop a performing arts, your new electives will be chosen by a counselor, based on class availability.

FAQ

A hour PE-A hour will be added when we can verify if we will be able to offer the class. If A hour is cancelled due to low enrollment numbers, the bookstore will contact you about a refund. If we are able to offer it, your student's schedule will be updated before the first day of school.

IT01 Future Maker-the district changed the course title after our course requesting period. If your student chose IT01 Introduction to Technology, the new title is IT01 Future Maker (students often refer to this class as wood shop).

General electives- We are not currently making any general elective changes.

Year-long performing arts- If you are missing a year-long performing arts, email the appropriate grade level counselor. We will do our best to update the schedule prior to the first day of school but that may not be feasible.

8th grade: Mrs. Castillo acastillo@mpsaz.org

7th grade: Ms. Garcia agarcia2@mpsaz.org

AI30 Academic Intervention- any student that scored less than proficient on the AzMERIT was automatically placed in AI30 per Taylor administration. They will be given an assessment by the AI teacher the first couple weeks of school and potentially be removed. If they meet the exit requirements they will be placed in an available elective.
