Biography

Picture of Mr. Cota

I am new to Taylor Junior High this year.  Before here, I taught in New Mexico, where I held a Level II Teaching of Language Arts and Social Studies endorsement.  I've taught Creative Writing/Journalism to 6th and 8th  and English 9 and English 9 Honors in an academy setting.  For three years I taught English 11, American Literature; as well as Communication skills to a mixed class of 10th-12th graders.  Finally, I taught English 12, World Literature for two years. I am very excited to teach seventh grade this year.

I've received the New Mexico Council of Teachers of English Leadership Award 2008; completed the forty hours Intel Teach to the Future program (certification); and was honored to be chosen a 2006 High Desert National Writers Fellow.  Previous to teaching, I was adept in all aspects of computer networking, setup, software and administration, as well as worked twelve years in various capacities as a technical writer/editor.  I am bilingual:  English/Spanish.

If you've read this far, I am also going to be starting a bowling club here for any interested Taylor Junior High students!  We are going to learn about the sport of bowling while having a great time.
