Equitable Services for Private School Students

ESSA Section 1117(a)(3)

By federal law, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires each Local Education Agency (LEA) that receives Title I monies to obligate funds to identify and serve eligible at-risk students who reside within Title I attendance boundaries but choose to attend private schools -Section 1117(a)(3). These services are direct assistance to the eligible students only and equitable to the services provided to at-risk public school students.
