Department Specialist- ESEA Title I Program
Assist the Director of Federal Grants in the administration of the Title I grant application, programming, and budget.
Born and raised in Rhode Island, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at the University of Rhode Island. A year later I moved to Arizona where I earned a Master's of Education degree from Arizona State University, and began teaching in the Mesa School District in 1995. I taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades at Longfellow Elementary and 4th grade at Barbara Bush Elementary. I took a position with the Basic Skills Department in 2002 where I helped open Zaharis Elementary, and over the course of 8 years, I had the opportunity to support students and teachers at Falcon Hill, Zaharis, MacArthur, and Edison Elementary Schools in that role. In 2009 the Curriculum and Instruction Department was restructured, and I was offered a position as a Title I School Improvement Specialist and supported the O'Connor community from 2010-2019. In May of 2019, I was offered the position of ESEA Department Specialist and am excited to use the knowledge, skills, and experience I have gained in my new position to support Mesa Public Schools' Title I Grant.
