Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! This year I am your child's Algebra I (MA27) and/or Honor's Geometry (MA32)  teacher. I look forward to a wonderful year full of learning and exploring new concepts.  Both of these classes are high school classes and will be going on your high school transcript.

Biography

I was born and raised in a small town in Northwest Ohio.  I moved to Mesa in 2008, and I absolutely love Arizona.  I graduated with my bachelors of Science in Education with majors in Math and Social Studies.  I attended The Defiance College, which is a private liberal arts college that has approximately 900 students.  The small atmosphere created a very personal experience.  I have a masters from Concordia University in Math Curriculum and Instruction.  Teaching math is my passion and my goal is to help students understand the content, as well as preparing them for the future.

This is my 9th year teaching for Mesa Public Schools, and I don't believe there is a better place to work!  In 2008-2009 I taught AA World History and ELP American History at Stapley Junior High.  As much as I enjoy history, Math is my real passion.  In 2009-2010 I taught Geometry at Red Mountain and Pre-Algebra at Stapley Junior High.  In 2010-2011 I taught Geometry and Algebra I at Stapley Junior High. The next three years, I  taught Geometry and Algebra Applications (a version of Algebra II) at Red Mountain. In 2014-2015, I made the decision to return to Stapley.  Stapley is a wonderful school with amazing students and staff; it is the best place to work!

This year, I will be teaching Honor's Geometry and Algebra 1.  Last year, 100% of my students passed their AZ Merit and I couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments, dedication, and hard work!  I am looking forward to another amazing year with amazing students and parents.  Parents are truly the reason for success and I thank you for being so supportive of your child during this class.  The high school classes at the junior high level can be overwhelming at first, for both students and parents.  I hold my students to high expectations to set them up for future success.  Students will most likely work harder than they ever have ever worked in any previous class, but the rewards will be worth the work!  Please feel free to discuss any issues that you have with me regarding the success of your child, as that is my first priority.

I enjoy snow skiing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with fiance, friends, and family.  I really enjoy teaching, and I am happy to be teaching in MPS.  This October (fall break), I will be getting married to my fiance in our small Ohio town to be with our family.  He and I grew up together, and I talked him into leaving Ohio for sunny Arizona.  He is currently employed as a Phoenix Police Officer and we will be residing in Gilbert.
