Biography

My name is Andréa Henderson, and I am a graduate of Arizona State University (ASU), where I obtained my Bachelor of Music: Music Education through the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts and Barrett, the Honors College. I was born and raised in Mesa, and am a product of Mesa Public Schools District, and I am so excited to be back teaching elementary band in the district I grew up in! I graduated from Skyline High School in 2015 and ASU in May 2019.

I have been in love with music since I started playing the clarinet in 5th grade, and have been picking up different instruments in different ensembles, such as trumpet, percussion, guitar, ukulele, and voice. I love music technology and recording and bringing these into the music classroom. I knew I wanted to teach music when I was in junior high, and decided to major in music education. I worked with multiple teachers in the Tempe Elementary School District, Scottsdale Unified School District, and Mesa Public Schools during my internships and student teaching.

I am very excited to be the new band teacher at Franklin at Alma, Sirrine, and Washington Elementary Schools for the 2019-2020 school year!
