Biography

My name is Elizabeth Arellano and I am very excited to be at Washington this year!

I can’t believe that I moved to Mesa almost 30 years ago! I attended Kino Jr. High

and graduated from Mountain View High School. I have an 8th grade daughter and

a 5th grade son who also attend Mesa Public Schools.

I went to the University of Arizona and received my bachelor’s degree in Spanish. I

decided I wanted to explore another part of the U.S. and went to Boston University where

I received my Master’s Degree in Education for Teaching English to Speakers of Other

Languages (TESOL). I decided those Eastern Winters were not for me and came back to

sunny Arizona.

I taught ELD kindergarten for 16 years in Phoenix. I loved teaching and wanted to

stay in the school setting, but I was ready for something new and decided that I wanted

to become a Speech Language Pathologist. For the past 3 years I have worked here in

Mesa as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant while attending Arizona State

University. As a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, I was fortunate enough to work at

Summit, Westwood, Holmes, Irving, Jefferson, Sousa, Kerr, Brinton and Robson and meet

many talented students and staff. In May I graduated with my Master of Science degree

in Communication Disorders and am now beginning my first year as a Speech Language

Pathologist.

I am looking forward to meeting and working with the amazing students and parents

at Washington this year!

Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me with any questions or concerns.
