Moyer Earns State Title

Congratulations to senior Austin Moyer who was crowned as state champion for the 160-pound weight class last weekend. Moyer avenged his only loss of the season with a dramatic come-from-behind throw and pin over his Mountain View opponent. He is Westwood's first state champ since 2010. Congratulations Austin! The website was created by Stand for Children Arizona to assist parents with understanding Arizona's College and Career Ready Standards. The site is unique because it breaks down content by grade and subject, explains concepts in plain language, gathers the most high quality resources from multiple sources that best speak to parents, and does not require users to supply any personal information to access content.

Library To Host Community Nights

The Westwood Library has added extended hours for the community. This new program begins on Tuesday, Jan. 20th and will continue every Tuesday (when school is in session) until May from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Click here for more information.

Bowman Named Teacher Of The Year

Westwood's own John-David Bowman has been named the 2015 Arizona Teacher of the Year by the Arizona Educational Foundation.

The Westwood High School history teacher and IB teacher will receive a trip to the White House to compete for National Teacher of the Year, a trip to Space Camp in Alabama, a scholarship for an advanced degree, a $15,000 cash reward and much more. Lucky Westwood students will also get to celebrate with a school-wide ice cream party, thanks to Blue Bell Creameries. Mr. Bowman was interviewed by ABC 15. Click here to view the video.
