Way to go IB Warriors!

Congrats to the following IB students who placed in the recent DECA District competition: 1st Place: KALENA OORLOG, marketing communications; ANA URQUIJO and SKYE RIGGS-DAVIS in sports & entertainment marketing as well as 1ST Place BRANDON DEWEY and DANIEL LEWIS in buying & merchandising team decision making. 

Congratulations to IB senior ATHENA LE who was selected as a Mesa Citizen of the Year for 2017. She earns a monetary award along with the designation for completing more than 150 hours or more of outstanding community service during her years in high school, demonstrating a commitment to lifelong service to the community, and possessing the potential to be successful in future life experiences.... Way to go Athena!

acdecOur Westwood AcDec team competed recently in the Regional Competition and placed 2nd as a team overall, and our IB Students did exceptionally well individually:

NATHAN BERGMAN placed 1st overall in the Honors division, winning a 4 year scholarship to an in state school. He also won gold medals in Language and Literature, Music, Science, Art, Math, and Economics, and a Silver medal in Social Science.

LIAM WILSON placed 1st overall in the Scholastic Division, winning a 4 year scholarship to an in state school. He also won gold medals in Social Science, Music, Art, and Essay. Silver in Science and Social Science, and Bronze in Economics.

FRANIE O'NEIL won Silver medals in Art and Speech, and a Bronze medal in Language and Literature.

AMEYA THATTE won a Silver medal for Essay.

SUNIL DEVARAJ won a Bronze medal for Science.

Congratulations to IB senior Cora Stevens on receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award. This award recognizes American's of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their community and their country. Cora received both a letter and certificate from the President to thank her and honor her for her service. Way to go Cora, and thank you for your service!
