Classroom professors are mentors at the University of Advancing Technology, and students gain exposure to industry professionals through various events. A representative from the UAT in Tempe will be in the Westwood Career Center on January 30th at 2:00pm to speak to students interested in learning and experiencing technology innovation. Network and Cyber Security among other technical subjects taught. Classroom passes at the career center. 

 

Word! Poetry Slam is coming at ya every Monday in room 206.  If you are interested in poetry performance with a hip hop edge, please join us for our first meetings.  Join us each Monday after school in room 206 for a safe place to practice writing, sharing, and performance skills. Word!

 

The ASU Barrett Summer Scholars Program is accepting applications from academically-talented  9th grade honor students through March 6 for its summer session.  This program gives students the opportunity to live on campus, engage in college-level coursework, and prepare for success at ASU.  More information is available in the Career Center.

All students and their parents are welcome to join the FAFSA presentation and workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 6-8:00 PM at Westwood H.S. Media Center. This is a great opportunity to finalize your financial aid paperwork and receive professional assistance in doing the daunting task!  ASU-College Access Liaison-Stuart Rice will be presenting assisting with the event.

Hey actors!  It's that time again.  Time for AUDITIONS!  Auditions for the spring production of Much Ado About Nothing will be Thursday, Feb. 5th and/or Friday, Feb. 6th at 3:30 in the auditorium.  This hilarious Shakespearean comedy follows the mishaps and adventures of couples as they fall in love.  It is set in the 1920's in Italy and will be loads of fun to be a part of!  Nervous about auditioning?  Let the drama club officers set you at ease with an audition workshop right before.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Whitaker in the drama room.

Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s Student Leaders Program: The Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s Student Leaders Program is for students interested in an 8-week summer internship with a nonprofit organization and a week in July for an all-expense paid Student Leaders Summit in Washington D.C. in partnership with the Close Up Foundation.  The Career Center has more information about this program and the January 31, 2015 application deadline.

 

GT Entertainment wants to thank you for all of your cheers during the Cultural Assembly! GT meetings will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays next week. Meet after school in the small dance room. Seniors its picture time again! On Monday at the beginning of first hour we will be taking the senior panoramic photo in the gym during the first 10 minutes of class. 

 

The Boys Basketball team and Coach Powell would like to thank all the students and teachers who came out to the Mesa game last night.  That was by far the best student section in the state this year.  You all are Big Time!!
