Congratulations to the Warrior softball team! Nerina Tjaarda pitched the team to a victory over Red Mountain 14-8. The game was tied at three with Westwood batting in the top of the 5th inning when Elishia Burbank doubled, driving in one run to talk the lead for the remainder of the game. Burbank collected four hits in five at bats to lead the Warriors. Burbank, Stacia Seeton, and Hannah Matson each homered in the game. Westwood out hit Red Mountain with 12 hits. Today, the team eagerly waits to see if they made it to the state tournament. Go Warriors!

Your Lady Warrior Softball team finished their regular season with a record of 21 wins and 11 loses, finishing region play 7 and 3. Stacia Seeton leads the nation in home runs with 21. The team is ranked 7th Nationally with 42 home runs. Congratulations Lady Warriors!

A Reminder to Students from Attendance: If you have more than 9 absences in a class, you can submit an Attendance Appeal form. This form is due Friday, May 5th in the office.

Applications for the Westwood Alumni Scholarship are available for Seniors with a current GPA between 2.8 and 3.5. This scholarship is open to any senior planning to attend a college, university, technical school, or trade school next fall and who could use an extra $1,000 to help pay for it. Applications are available in the Compass Center and are due by midnight on April 28th.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness month. Please help to honor survivors by wearing a Teal ribbon on Tuesday, April 25th. They will be handed out during both lunch periods at an information table. See our school social worker, Ms. Christina, for additional details

This Friday's Latino Club meeting has been rescheduled for next Thursday, May 4th. Please plan on attending. New members are always welcome.

Juniors interested in learning more about admissions and programs at ASU are invited to sign up for a presentation by our ASU Admissions rep. this Wednesday. This is the last time our ASU representative that will be on campus this spring so sign up to learn more about how and when to apply! Stop by the Compass Center today for more information.

There is a college fair being held on the ASU campus this Sunday, April 30th. Representatives from over 75 Colleges and Universities from around the Unites States will be on hand to talk to you. Students must register in advance. For more information, stop into the Compass Center today.

Are you sophomore or junior interested in representing Westwood as part of a select group of students from high schools throughout Mesa? Are you interested in interacting with our Mayor, City Council and City staff on a regular basis to learn the ins and outs of city government? Then consider applying to be part of the 'Mayors Youth Committee' Applications are available now in the Compass Center and are due back to Mrs. Mason by May 1st. Act quick. Time is running out.

Seniors - if you are planning to pursue a career in nursing and have been accepted at one of our in-state colleges or universities, please see Mrs. Mason in the Compass Center today to pick up an application for a specialty scholarship JUST FOR YOU. The deadline is May 1st so you need to act soon.

Hello Native American Club members. The end of the year is fast approaching. If you are interested in running for an officer position, be sure to attend the club meeting his Thursday at 3:10 in room 303. Attendance has been great. Let's finish the year strong. Come be a part of our final plans as we wind up the year and start preparing for next year

The track team had their city meet last week and came home with some outstanding performances. City Champions were Isiah Thomas in the 100m and 200m, Erick Garcia (Mile), James Smith (300m Hurdles), Kristian Quashie (Discus), Sierra Madvig (100m), Amaya Meeks (Long Jump and Triple Jump). Our relay teams also did well - Girls 4x100m relay with Victoria Halvorsen, Amaya Meeks, Sierra Madvig and Amy Fuller placed 1st and the boys 4 x 400m relay with Jesus Romero, Angel Verdugo, Stephan Caraway and James Smith also placed 1st. Congratulations to all athletes.

Getting behind in your classes and finding it hard to catch up. Come get help from the Interpreters Club tutoring sessions held every Monday and Wednesday after school in portable 61. You can get help in any subject.
