My name is Alyssa north and I am the autism/applied learning teacher here at Westwood. I am a native of Arizona and a product of Mesa Public Schools. I also attended college at Arizona universities. I am married to a wonderful man and have 4 children. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family at home, relaxing and reading a good book!
In 2004, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in special education from Arizona State University. In January of 2005 I began my teaching career. I began teaching the MIID program at Powell Jr. High and from there I moved to Carson when I also taught the MIID program. In 2009, I received my first Master’s degree in Bilingual/Multicultural Educating. After teaching in the MIID program for many years, I decided to try working with the autistic population, and from there I found my love. I opened the autism program at Rhodes Jr. High in 2010 and loved it but felt the need to move up to the high school level. In 2014, I obtained my second Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis/Autism and moved to Westwood to open the new autism program. I am a warrior for life!!
If ever any questions or concerns arise, please do not hesitate to contact me in any way! Give me a call, send an email or send in a note and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I check me email periodically throughout the day and find that it is much easier to respond this way, but I will get back to you regardless. I am so glad that I am working with your students this year!
