Biography

Ms. Helm is beginning her third year teaching orchestra at Westwood High School. She teaches Concert Orchestra, Symphonic Pops, Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.

She has taught previously in the Los Alamos Public School District teaching grades 4-8, where program participation increased substantially.  She also taught general music and orchestra at a charter school in Las Vegas, NV working with grades K-6.  She has taught private violin and viola lessons for over 10 years, from beginner level to high school. Ms. Helm enjoys sharing her love of music and learning with all her students.

She has worked as a judge at Allstate, choir festivals and multiple Solo and Ensemble festivals.  

Ms. Helm is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho with a bachelors degree in Music Education. While studying music, she played violin in the symphony, Idaho Falls Symphony, multiple chamber groups, jazz ensembles and was concertmaster of the Baroque Ensemble.  She student taught at Mesa High School and enjoys living in Arizona.  

Ms. Helm currently plays with orchestras in the valley and participates regularly in a local community choir. She loves road trips and traveling, good books, swing dancing, connecting with like-minded people across the valley, and interdisciplinary arts.
