Welcome... I was honored to join Westwood HS in December 2016 and I truly love being a Westwood Warrior!! My role as a School Social Worker is vast, but in a nutshell, I help with just about anything that could be interfering with a student's academic success. That could be helping with basic needs, such as food and clothing, which are addressed through programs like our WW food pantry or our on-site clothing closet. I can also assist families and students in connecting to resources available within the larger community, such as local food banks, shelter/housing programs and outpatient behavioral health services. Other barriers to academic success that I help to address are mental health struggles and interpersonal relationship issues (depression, anxiety, grief/loss, break-ups, bullying, divorce etc.). For these concerns, I am available to provide social and emotional support to our Westwood students and families through crisis intervention, SEL groups and brief solution-focused interventions. Lastly, I also work to provide support and SEL learning opportunities to our teachers & WW staff through larger scale campus-wide initiatives and training.
