Biography

Hello and welcome sports fans, my name is Caolan Head and I teach Freshman Biology at Westwood High School. I have been teaching in the district since 2018, however I have been engaged and involved in informal education spaces since 2015, teaching lessons at hundreds of K-12 schools throughout the state! I have a bachelors degree in Physical Anthropology from Northern Arizona University and a Masters degree in Museum Studies where I studied the nuances of formal and informal education in the spaces of museums, art galleries and science centers. I have a great passion for inquiry-based science and the excitement of discovery, two things that I attempt to bring to the foreground in my classroom. My class room mixes together the concepts of student-centered inquiry and project-based learning which creates a rather active environment for investigating the mysteries of our world!

I welcome all visitors into the classroom, especially parents, so they can see what mysteries of nature the students are delving into on a daily basis. Your students should expect a learning space that gives them control over their high school learning experience, where they can start to develop powerful skills of observation and investigation to take into their adult lives. Please feel free to contact me with any questions! Never Stop Learning!
