I started as an instructional assistant, then a secretary, then a dispatcher and finally meeting my life-long goal of Special Education Teacher. I began my career at Kino Junior High, after four years I moved to SHARP for five years and then came home to my alma mater, Westwood High School. I am a Warrior and graduated in 1991. I am a Sun Devil to finishing with 3 Master's Degrees; Education Administration and Supervision, Bilingual and Multicultural Education and Disability Law. I have always known I wanted to be a special education teacher. This is my calling. I love my students as if they were my own. I am a member of the Warrior community and a member of the Mesa Community, living in the Westwood area. I am always available for parents and students alike. Please do not hesitate to call me at 480-472-4623 or email me at djlopez@mpsaz.org. I will do my best to return emails and phone calls within 24 hours.
In addition to my Westwood Family I have a family at home. My wonderful husband Phillip who has been nothing but supportive and he is also in charge of our nutrition. He is a delightful cook. He is my rock. I also have three beautiful children, who happen to be Westwood alum, SJ, Daniela and Gabriela. They are kind and decent people. I am so proud of each one of them.
I am here for you in any capacity. Please feel free to reach out. I look forward to working with you and your child.
