Hello Warrior Family! My name is Elizabeth Cranney and I am a Multi-generational Native Arizonan. I grew up in Gilbert but consider myself lucky that I get to work in Mesa with some of the greatest counselors around. I started my college experience at Eastern Arizona College Go Gila Monsters! I had a blast living so close to the mountains and loved every minute of my time there. While at EAC I earned an Associates of General studies. Next I went to Utah State University and fell in love with Logan, Utah Go AGGIES!! While at USU I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a Minor in Human Resources. I worked for a couple years after I graduated and then decided it was time to go back to school for my Masters degree. I had known since I was in High School that I wanted to be a school counselor and so going back to school was a must even though I didn't love school! This time I attended Arizona State University. I earned a Master of Community Counseling with a School Counseling specialization. I interned at Fremont Junior High and was blessed to get my job with Mesa right out of school.
This will be my second year as a counselor at Westwood High School. I spent the first 12 years with Mesa Public Schools as an Elementary Counselor at Emerson and Whittier Elementary Schools. I am ecstatic that I was able to stay with my Westwood families when I made the switch to being a High School Counselor. Getting to see so many of my former students and helping them grow into adults and plan for their future is the BEST! This year I get to work with students whose last name falls between CAS-ESP. I look forward to meeting all of my students.
In my spare time I LOVE to travel! Some of my favorite places to go are beaches pretty much anywhere. I love to go on cruises and have been on several cruises that have allowed me to visit many different countries in the Caribbean and in Central America. In fact I have been to all but 1 country in Central America. One of my favorite cruises I was able to go on was a Panama Canal cruise, which was an amazing experience. If you ever get the chance to see the Panama Canal I highly recommend it!
