Biography

Hello and welcome to the Warrior family! I have been a counselor at Westwood  since 2013 and the Counseling Department Lead 2014-2020. This year I am excited to be the assigned counselor for the IB MYP and DP programs in addition to supporting the IB Seniors through their Extended Essay. I am honored to be a part of such an amazing team of caregivers! Each day provides me with an opportunity to learn and grow in my profession. Over the past several years I have assisted many Westwood IB students (including two of my own children) with the transition to high school and the development of college readiness skills for transition to college/university. Some of the other ways I support students is through academic intervention, interpersonal/social-emotional intervention, college document development, and the scholarship application process.

Education and Experience:

I have a M.A. Ed. in school counseling and have practiced in educational settings since 2005. I am also currently teaching as an adjunct professor at ASU in the Success Program. Prior to counseling, I taught as adjunct faculty at Central Arizona College and as a High School CTE instructor at EVIT for over eight years. Additionally, I hold a B.S. in Biotechnology. Early in my career, I worked in clinical and research laboratories prior to transitioning to education.

Fun Facts:

I am originally from Upstate New York; Saratoga County, a little town named Scotia, and moved to AZ in 1991. I have been in Mesa ever since!

I love following sports- including Swimming, Rugby, Football, Basketball, and Hockey!

I am an ASU Football fan! Go DEVILS! We travel to out of state games each year. In fact, one of the most exciting was attending the ASU vs. Notre Dame game at the ATT&T stadium in Dallas, TX.

I LOVE DOGS! (all animals really, but especially dogs)

Our family loves to travel, we have been all over the world!
