Course Description: Honors Precalculus strengthens students’ conceptual understanding of problems, mathematical reasoning, and mathematical modeling in solving problems. This course includes the study of polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and piece-wise functions and other relationships. Elements of trigonometry, geometry (conics), and matrices will also be studied. All of these topics will prepare students for future STEM related courses and college and career entry mathematics courses.
This is a college-level course that is offered for dual enrollment. Students can receive college credit at Mesa Community College (MCC) for MAT187. In order to dual enroll, students must register with MCC, pay the necessary tuition (or receive a tuition waiver), and earn a grade of C or higher in this course.
I teach the same material and have the same
expectations for all students in the class even if they do not choose dual enrollment.
