Biography

Mrs. Katie Gardner's blood runs deep orange!  Mrs. Gardner graduated from Westwood in 2004.  While attending WHS, Mrs. Gardner was an active athlete, student, and leader.  She was a 3 year starter for the WW Girls Basketball Team and a 4 year Varsity Badminton Player.  She lead her team to earn the State Runner-Up Badminton Banner and Trophy that can still be found in our gym.  Mrs. Gardner and her doubles partner won Individual State that year as well.  She was named the Piper Jaffrey Student Athlete of the Year for the State of Arizona (2004).  Mrs. Gardner was a Wendy's High School Heisman Bronze Award Winner.  She was inducted into the City of Mesa Sports Hall of Fame in 2014 for Badminton and Basketball.  

While she was not in the gym, she was heavily invested in activities on campus.  She served as Sophomore Class Vice President, Sports Director, and Student Body President.  She was also in National Honor Society and Honor Choir.  Mrs. Gardner graduated in the top 20 (#11) of her class.

After Westwood, Mrs. Gardner attended Arizona State University on an Academic and Leadership Scholarship (LSP).  While taking classes, Mrs. Gardner was a volunteer coach for the Badminton program.  Mrs. Gardner student taught at Westwood (Fall 2010), where she was able to teach and coach.  Unfortunately, upon graduation, Westwood did not have any openings. 

Mrs. Gardner taught Social Studies (8th grade, World History, US History, Government, Economics, and AP Microeconomics) in San Tan Valley and Florence prior to taking a job as an Instructional Coach at Florence High School.

Mrs. Gardner is happy to be home as a Warrior! 

Mrs. Gardner and her Husband have 3 young children.  Any time away from Westwood is spent with her family!  Her children enjoy swimming, jumping on the trampoline, riding bikes, and playing with their cousins.
