Ms. Rachel Collay
Greetings Students and Parents! I feel lucky to be a part of the Westwood Warrior family, after all, Everybody is Somebody at our school. After graduating from Arizona State University in 2002, I began teaching in Mesa Public Schools at Shepherd Junior High, but in 2006 I became part of the Westwood High School family. I truly am a Warrior through and through. In 2013, I completed my master's degree in English from Northern Arizona University and currently serve as a KQED Media Literacy Innovator.
My other family consists of my husband, Michael, and my sons, Max and Oliver, who humor me by participating in (or putting up with) my hobbies: reading, dancing, sewing, collage and printmaking, camping, hiking, collecting mid-century furniture and lamps, and watching movies (of course!)
The intersection of literature, art, history, and technology inspires me and helps to create a classroom full of inspiration and creativity. Collaborating with young adults is such a joy and honor; together we explore new ideas and varied perspectives. They have such important ideas to share if we just listen; I hope our classroom allows them to express themselves earnestly. Thanks for entrusting your child's education to me. Please call or email me any time if I can be of help.
