Honors Algebra II
This course is designed for students who have successfully completed Geometry and Algebra 1. The ideal student for this course performed well in previous math classes and is ready to further develop their mathematical thinking. Geometric and algebraic concepts are extended and connected to topics in probability and statistics, trigonometry, and discrete mathematics. There is a focus on the development of students’ abilities to reason both numerically and spatially, to communicate and solve problems employing a wide variety of approaches, technology, and disciplines. The difficulty level of this course is above average. Technology will only be used for academic purposes under teacher direction.
Canvas is a course management system. We will use this to submit assignments, participate in online discussions and organize course content.
GeoGebra is an interactive geometry, algebra, statistics and calculus application, intended for learning and teaching mathematics and science from primary school to university level. GeoGebra is available on multiple platforms with its desktop applications for Windows, Mac OS and Linux, with its tablet apps for Android, iPad and Windows, and with its web application based on HTML5 technology.
Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan to provide "a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere". Khan Academy has mini lectures in the form of videos and online resources that may be helpful to students.
