Hello Warriors! My name is Vinny Chavez and this will be my third year at Westwood. I teach Theatrical Arts I/II, Advanced Acting, and CTE Theater Design and Management. In addition to these classes, I also direct both the mainstage play and musical. I am also very excited to be part of the Student Council family as the one of the 2 main advisors along with Miss Lopez Duarte!

I was born in Panorama City, CA but moved to Mesa, AZ when I was 3. A product of Mesa Public Schools, I attended Edison Elementary, Adams Elementary, Kino Junior High, and Mesa High (class of 2009). I graduated with a degree in Theater from ASU in 2013. I've had the pleasure of working around the valley as a professional actor, appearing in both community and professional plays and musicals. Some shows I've performed in include: "Freddy" in Pygmalion (MCC), "Tenant/Prosecutor" in Fatboy (ASU), "Dick" in Dames at Sea (Hale), "King Ludwig" in Valhalla (N2T, ariZoni nomination), "Tinman" in The Wizard of Oz (Hale), "Terk" in Tarzan (Hale), "Hector" in The Smartest Girl in the World (Childsplay), "Bill" in Me & My Girl (Hale, ariZoni winner), "Bernardo" in West Side Story (Hale, ariZoni nomination), "Handsome Warren" in Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook (Childsplay), "Justin" in 21 Chump Street (A/C Theatre Company), "Clive" in See How They Run (Hale), "Crawford/Lamb" in Silence the Musical (Stray Cat Theatre), "Chad" in All Shook Up (TheaterWorks), "Prince Char" in Ella Enchanted the Musical (Childsplay), "Christopher" in Two Mile Hollow (Stray Cat Theatre), and "George" in Schoolhouse Rock Live (Childsplay). In addition to teaching and acting, I also have the honor of serving as the Program Manager for Arizona Magic of Music & Dance, a non-profit musical theater program for youth and adults with disabilities.
