Biography
I was born in Mesa, Arizona (Southside Hospital) and raised in Gilbert, Arizona. I am a Native Arizonan! I went to Gilbert Elementary, Gilbert Jr. High, and Gilbert High School. I am a third generation Arizona educator. My grandmother and grandfather were both educators with a combined 45 plus years, my mother taught for 38 years, and I am currently on my 15th year of teaching. Thirteen of those years here at Whittier Elementary.
Growing up I was very involved in 4-H from the time I was 8 years old until 19 years old. I showed goats, rabbits,and chickens. I was very active in Jr. leadership, Teen leadership, and then became a Leader. I went to Washington D.C. and Chicago representing the State of Arizona. I became a Maricopa County Ambassador representing 4-Hers in our state. As an ambassador I met the govenor of our state, went on t.v. and radio, and participated in many functions. In high school I was active in F.F.A. (Future Farmers of America). I received my Greenhand Degree, Chapter Farmer Degree, Star Agribusinessman, Range Management, Rabbitry, and State Farmer Degree.
I received my Bachelor Degree from Ottawa University in 1997. My first two years of teaching were long term substitute positions in Chandler, Arizona. I was then hired by Mesa Public Schools where I have been for the last thirteen years. I currently hold my Bachelors plus hours, an Early Childhood Endorsement, and an English Second Language Learner Endorsement.
I have one son, Michael. He is attending college and majoring in Technological Sciences . We are Nascar fans! We enjoy traveling and our favorite place to visit is Washington D.C. I am a very proud tenth generation American!!!
