Biography

Growing up in Brockport, New York, near the Erie Canal and Lake Ontario, I loved school and decided that I wanted to be a teacher at an early age. Hard work, New York Regents Scholarships and private scholarships helped to support me in my Music Education studies at the Crane School of Music at S.U.N.Y. Potsdam where I graduated with honors.

My first professional experience was teaching K-6 music in the Poughkeepsie, N.Y. area. After teaching 2 years there, my husband and I moved to Arizona.

Over 31 years of teaching in Arizona have included High School, Junior High, and Elementary music in Mesa, Chandler, and Queen Creek, where I've taught Band, Jazz Band, Chorus, Orchestra, and General music classes.   Most recently, I taught General Music, Band and Chorus at Whittier Elementary for 19 years.

I have been playing trumpet in what is now the Chandler Symphony Orchestra for over 28 years. I also enjoyed playing in brass quintets, including Brass Menagerie. Chandler Symphony Orchestra's concerts are FREE! Please check the season's concert schedule at our website.

As a member of our Mesa Public Schools family, I feel blessed to be a facilitator of so many students' education as I teach their General Music classes at Redbird and Franklin East Elementary.

It warms my heart that many of my students have gone on to perform at higher musical levels and some have made their love of music their career.
