Ms. Sato

Hello! Welcome to 3rd grade in room 505, I'm so happy you're here!  I am so excited for a year full of learning, growing, exploring, and having fun at Whittier.  I was fortunate to be hired on after my year of student teaching here in 3rd grade at Whittier with such an amazing team, staff, and supportive parents.  Whittier is a school of diversity and excellence and room 505 is an extension of the same mindset.  This year we will be exploring multiplication and division as well as fractions and problem solving strategies.  We will practice our reading skills by diving into all sorts of text and literature and share our creativity with each other through our writing.  As we prepare for the AZ Merit in April we will be practicing essential computer skills such as typing, navigating research websites, Office programs, and Google apps.

Biography

As a third generation Mesa, Arizonan, I am a proud product of Mesa Public Schools. I have known I wanted to teach since I myself was a third grader in Mr. Neil's class at Lehi Elementary.  From Lehi I attended Stapley Jr. High, graduated from Westwood High School, and received my B.A. in Elementary Education from ASU December, 2016.  I took on my position in January, finished the year with a wonderful group of kids, and haven't looked back since! Prior to teaching, I was a nanny though college and just love associating with children.  I am the oldest of five children and teaching third grade while my baby brother is in third grade creates interesting and unique family time. I love hearing how he feels about the standards we are exploring and the concepts that he thrives or struggles with.

In my time away from Whittier, I am the assistant varsity girls' volleyball coach at Westwood and coach club volleyball in the off season.  To say my life revolves around teaching and coaching would be an understatement; however, I love instilling lifelong values in the young minds I am blessed to be able to impact.  I do not take my responsibilities lightly and my choices and methods are always calculated with logic, research, and heart.  I love reading and writing, gardening, playing volleyball, and visiting the beach, but my favorite pastime is laughing, especially with my students and others that I love.

That's me! I can't wait to grow and laugh with these kids that bring so much joy to this profession that I love! Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns.
