Biography

My name is Alicia Veitel.  I am beginning my 30th year of teaching for Mesa Public Schools.  I graduated from ASU with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education in 1986.  My first teaching position was as a Fourth Grade Teacher at Whittier Elementary.  I returned to ASU to study Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education and received my Masters Degree in 1995.

While teaching at Whittier I met my husband Gregg; my students' PE teacher.  It wasn't long before we gave birth to our son and 22 months later our daughter was born.

After moving into the Wilson neighborhood, I knew it was important to our family that I teach at our children's school.  I was blessed to begin working as a Fifth Grade teacher at Wilson in 2002.  Two years later I was provided an opportunity to work with a wonderful, productive group of people in a district department.  With this position, I worked closely with Wilson's teachers and principals.  After being away from the classroom for ten years, I returned  to teaching Fifth Grade at Wilson.

The decision to return to the classroom was the best decision I could have made.  Working with kids is where my heart is and I have enjoyed each and everyday.
