Hello Rhodes Junior High families!!  My name is Jennifer Schwartz-Salomone.  I am so excited to be joining Rhodes Junior High music department.  I have been teaching junior high choir, guitar, dance and theatre for 14 years.  In addition, I have taught 4-6th junior high orchestra.

I am a Native New Yorker. I had the privilege of growing up on Long Island.  Throughout Elementary school I sang in our school choir and began playing the violin.  As I entered Junior High, I realized quickly that I wanted to switch to the cello.  With much enthusiasm, my orchestra teacher threw a cello into my arms and began teaching me how to play. Not only did I excel in orchestra I also sang in the Junior High Choir and performed in musicals.  In High School I continued playing the cello where I auditioned for NYSMA and SCMEA.  I also sang in choir, swing choir and was in musicals.

I received my BA from Prescott College in Music Education. Next I completed my Masters Degree from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University in Columbus Ohio where I received my MA in Music Education with a choral emphasis in Kodaly.  It was there I received a Choral Scholarship while I completed my three levels of Kodaly training.

Outside of teaching I have a small vocal and string studio.

This will be my 15th year teaching in public schools.  Wowza!

Outside of music, I love to take photographs, thrift shop, travel, hang out with friends, craft, laugh, learn, cook, make people laugh, game nights with friends and spending time with my husband, pug named Polly and my 5 year old son Dylan.

Have fun learning sound, pitch, rhythm and making music come alive. https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/
