County Fair Creations in First Grade

As Mrs. Anderson's class was reading Charlotte's Web together, the students focused on different settings to visualize various events within the story. The students were particularly interested in the county fair setting. The class researched the history along with numerous attractions that can commonly be found at county fairs. From there, they decided to bring the setting to life. The students brainstormed many attractions that they wanted to recreate. Mrs. Kohn came in to teach circuits and motors, including the difference between a Servo and DC motor. The class then collected various recyclable materials. Students used them to construct their attractions, and with Mrs. Kohn's guidance, they attached motors and lights as well.
