Fifth Graders Go To Science Camp
Last week, fifth grade students, teachers and parents went on an adventure-filled, three day trip to science camp at Tonto Rim, in Payson. The journey began with a visit to the local fish hatchery, followed by a beautiful hike through two miles of mud and rain! On days two and three, students participated in various activities including a cave exploration, archery, a stream study, a fossil study and dissection of owl pellets. In addition to those classes, there were also some fun new additions including “Survival,” “Escape the Woods,” and “L.O.S.T.” Unexpected activities included spotting a bald eagle, as well as a baby bat, and listening to spooky stories in a haunted cabin, compliments of our beloved principal, Mr. Oliver. Finally, students enjoyed our long-time tradition of toasting s’mores while singing their favorite campfire songs. This trip was definitely one to remember!
