WELCOME TO SIXTH GRADE . . . an exciting year packed full of discoveries! Grab your backpacks and get ready to explore ancient civilizations, read like you've never read before, and solve the craziest of math problems. Our science experiments will leads us to draw the most amazing conclusions and we will participate in a close study of the great oceans around us . . . try not to get wet!
Wow! I can't believe this is my 20th year of teaching. Time really does fly when you love what you do! I feel lucky to teach and learn alongside the 6th grade students and my colleagues at Zaharis.
I would like to take this time to share a little about myself. In 1997, I graduated from NAU and taught 2nd grade for 5 years in northern Arizona, before moving to Mesa to begin my career with Mesa Public Schools. I began teaching 2nd grade at Zaharis Elementary in 2003. When the 2006-2007 approached, I took a huge leap of faith and joined the 6th grade team at Zaharis. It was quite the change after nine years at the primary level, but I have absolutely loved every minute!
In my spare time I can be found being a wife and mother. I am married to my wonderful husband, Brian. We have two children, Madalyn (11) and Connor (6). This year we get to watch our daughter enjoy learning in the 6th grade (not sure the 6th grade is ready for two of us) and our son in 1st grade at Zaharis.
