End of Year - IMPORTANT!
Today I sent home a bright orange paper regarding our end of year activities, but I had all the dates wrong! :( Woops...that's what I get for sending it in a hurry. I am attaching it to the end of this email so you can read it on here. But in addition to that I have a few other reminders.
First, TOMORROW is the last day to turn in any and all missing work. I sent home a final missing work report with your child today. Please look at it and help them get anything finished that they need to so it can be turned in tomorrow. TOMORROW is also the last day for students to turn in ALL LIBRARY BOOKS! If we have 100% of students cleared of all books or charges from the library, then they earn a movie party! That would be awesome! Please help your child search their rooms, their backpacks, under their beds, their bookshelves, etc. for not only the library's books, but mine as well! Every year I lose lots of books because children forget to return them to me. Help me out this year please! :) I will attach the list of students and books that we are still missing from the Zaharis library.
BOOKS STILL CHECKED OUT:
- Brody - Frindle
- Haeley - Skunks and their Relatives, Babymouse Beach Babe
- Kylie - Me too! two small stories about small animals
- Brittney - Cookbook for Girls
- Kalin - The Lifecycle of a Koala, Koalas, Amelia's ithy-twitchy lovey-dovey summer at Camp Mosquito

As this year quickly comes to a close, I wanted to make you aware of a few last minute things I could use your help with. We have our end of the year auction coming up on Wednesday, May 23. It will be held in the morning. Your kids have been working hard all year and have been earning lots of Crandell cash, and as an end of the year “blow out” they will be spending all their cash at this auction. Because I can’t provide all of the prizes myself, I am asking that each family donate one or several items to the cause. These can be new (from the dollar store), or gently used items that you know your student would want to buy. Some ideas are: gift cards, games, books, toys, stuffed animals, candy, knick knacks…whatever! Please don’t feel that you have to buy anything expensive (or anything at all if you have items that can be donated from your house), but whatever you can help us with is appreciated! With what you provide, and the 10 or 15 items I provide we’ll have lots of choices for spending our cash!
Next is our end of the year party. I can’t believe it’s already time, but it is. On Thursday, May 24, we will be having a pizza party in our classroom as we celebrate our last day together. If you are able to donate a few dollars to the cause, it would be appreciated! Those who signed up to help at the party will be contacted about bringing drinks or other snacks. I appreciate so much those of you who have volunteered to help!
Last, we have been creating portfolios of all the work we’ve done this year, and will be preparing them to be sent home on Wednesday, May 23. These portfolios are FULL of your child’s writing, reading projects, art projects, and memories from this year. I hope it is something they (and you) can treasure for years to come. Please look for this when it comes home so it doesn’t get lost or forgotten in a backpack before you can enjoy its contents. (***We will also be scrapbooking our journey through 5th grade with the TONS of photos I’ve taken, and could use any scrapbooking supplies you could spare).
Thanks again for all you do to help our class, and for sending me such amazing 5th graders. They have worked so hard this year and come so far! I look back and can’t believe the journeys we’ve been on together. This group of students is awesome. I love them! 6th grade, here they come!
