Grand Canyon, Don's Camp, and County Floats

Hello Room 18 Families!

We hope your week is off to a great start! We have a lot going on in 4th grade over the next several days.

First, let us give you another reminder, we will have our Grand Canyon parent's meeting on Wednesday, January 24th at 5:30. If you are interested in chaperoning you MUST attend the parent's meeting. Chaperone papers will only be handed out at that meeting. Even if you are not interested in chaperoning, we highly encourage you to attend this meeting. We will be outlining the trip, the physical/financial/behavioral expectations, and answering any questions you have.

Next, we have our field trip to Don's Camp this Friday.  Please remember to pack a lunch and bring a jacket.  If you would like to chaperone, we are happy to accommodate as many of you as possible.  In order to do this, please consider driving to the camp if you would like.  You are welcome to follow our bus.  We will be leaving the school at 8:00.  If you arrive there before us, room 18 is group "N".

Hopefully, you saw the paperwork regarding the upcoming county float assignment in your child's report card envelope.  Please take a look at that and let us know if you have any questions.  At this point, your child should be working on getting a box to build the float on and finding a way to make it mobile.  Some ideas include:  attaching it to a wagon, using flat dollies, tying it to a skateboard, or rigging other contraptions that can hold the box in a sturdy manner that can have wheels attached to it.  Your child should have already completed the research at school.  The next step would be to print the 12 most interesting facts or have your child write them onto note cards.   Here is a digital version of the the assignment and the grading rubric.

Thank you for all of your support.  We couldn't do these fun activities without wonderful parents.
