A bit about me...
I was born in California and raised in Canada, the oldest of six children. My life was full of reading and figure skating, and I began crafts and sewing at a young age. When I began 2nd grade (I called it grade 2), I moved across Canada to a new city, and I started my fifth school. I asked my parents if, the next time we took a vacation, we could go back to where we started. 2nd grade was hard for me at first. I was very shy and it took me a long time to make friends, but I did and had a great year.
I married my high school sweetheart, Rick, and we have seven wonderful children who continue to enrich our lives with pride, laughter, and grandchildren. We love to see our family grow. Six of our children are married, and the youngest is serving a church mission in Argentina. We have 15 beautiful and amazing grandchildren. The sad thing is that, in the last few years, almost all of them have moved away from Arizona. So now we spend our vacations visiting them.
After spending several years at home with my children, I had a desire to teach. I returned to school and completed my bachelor's degree at ASU in Elementary Education. I also completed my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Language and Literacy and have my certification to teach English up to the junior high level. I have continued to take classes since...I just love learning!
When I am not at school, you might find me curled up with a book (usually mystery, historical fiction, or something about teaching & learning), doing home renovations, traveling with my husband, or spending time with my kids and grandkids. They are the best! We love music, old movies...and new ones, too, going to the lake, camping, playing games, and eating good food together.
I look forward to getting to know you!
