Biography

 Dear Families,

My name is Mrs. Sharon Scott.  The beginning of school is very exciting.  For teachers and students alike it is a time of change and new beginnings.  I would like to welcome you and your child to  Zaharis Elementary School.  I look forward to working with both of you during the school year.  I am very pleased to have your child in my class this year.

For the benefit of you who are new to our classroom this year, a little about myself. I have a wonderful husband, and three  children.  My 20 year old son is a Junior at Arizona State University, my 17 year old son is a Senior at Highland HS, and my youngest, Abby, is an 8th grader at Highland Junior Highschool.

I received a Bachelor’s in Education (both in Regular Ed. and Special Ed.) from Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania in 1985.  My Master’s Degree is from Northern Arizona University (1995).  I taught 2nd grade in Pennsylvania for two years before moving to Gilbert, Arizona.  I began teaching for Mesa Public Schools in 1988 at the Parkway School (now Franklin East).  For the next thirteen years I was the MD Primary teacher at Hermosa Vista Elementary.  I am now very excited to be teaching my eleventh year at Zaharis.  Our principal, Mr. Mike Oliver, and the staff he has chosen are a dynamic group of people.  I am thrilled and honored to count myself among this talented staff.

The short version of my personal philosophy is that all children can learn.  I believe learning is in the reach of every child.  In the MIID classroom little steps are important foundations and every accomplishment should be celebrated.  Please join us on curriculum night for details regarding our reading, math, and writing workshops, materials used, daily schedule, and homeroom assignments (for integration with peers during specials such as library, P.E, music, assemblies and field trips).  It is going to be a great year in room 23.
