Dear Families,

Welcome Back, or Welcome Aboard!!

The MIID Program is a multi-age primary program.  We have seven students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade in our classroom community to begin the 2016-2017 school year.  Welcome back to Sarah, Byron, Leo, Keira, Mia, Dimitris and a big welcome to our new Kindergartener, Lily.

The beginning of school is very exciting.  For teachers and students alike it is a time of change and new beginnings.  Typically, I can’t wait to see how my returning students have grown.  This year I am going to have to wait until January 2017 to see that growth.   I have some good news, and some challenging news. The good news is that the overall prognosis for my health remains excellent.  The unfortunate piece, is that the journey to full recovery is proving to be more difficult than anticipated.  I was anticipating an August return to school, with an intermittent FAML schedule for the days I have Chemo treatments. I am sorry to say that this will not be possible. .  I look forward to working with each of you when I return from family medical leave in January.

I am happy to let you know that all three of our classroom Instructional Assistants are returning to room 23.  The routine in the classroom will remain sure and steady.  Mrs. Corkill has been with me 17 years, Mrs. Galbraith has been in our class for 5 years, and Mrs. Tackett has been with us for 4 years.  Despite a long term substitute in room 23, we have a strong staff who know your children well.
