The instruction provided in HSE/GED and ABE/GED classes is designed to address the learning needs of people with a wide range of skills and abilities. Classes include activities and lessons in the five HSE/GED subject areas: social studies, science, literature & arts, mathematics and civics with an emphasis in reading/writing in all subjects. When a student enters the program, standardized assessments in reading, writing and math are administered and the student's lesson path is determined. Individual assignments are made based on the results of these assessments. Students maintain their own education portfolio which includes goals, practice test results, subject-area assignment sheets and a monthly assessment of progress to help the student determine when they are ready to take the official GED exam. Students must attend registration prior to enrolling in an HSE/GED class.
