Please call the school of your choice to find out how you can help. Gift and Donation Forms for tax purposes are available on campus. Consider:
Back-to-school items
Schools welcome such things as backpacks, books, clothing, personal hygiene items and school supplies for students in need. Contact schools near you for information.
Purchases that help schools
Shopping malls, stores and manufacturers sponsor a variety of programs that provide funding and school supplies.
ECA donations for state tax credits
You can determine how part of your state income tax is spent by making an extracurricular activity donation. Dollar-for-dollar tax credits are available.
Used computers
Donate aging or broken computers and components to Students Recycling Used Technology (StRUT). High school students in advanced computer repair classes learn hands-on high-tech skills. They divert the equipment from landfills by refurbishing and donating it to nonprofit organizations.
Schools accept computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, speakers, printers, scanners, fax machines, software and small copy systems. Large, nonworking copy systems, televisions and VCRs are not accepted.
Drop off your donation at the main office during school hours. Tax-donation forms are available there. Mesa's StRUT refurbishing centers are:
- Mesa High, 1630 E. Southern Ave., Mesa, phone (480) 472-5883
- Red Mountain High, 7301 E. Brown Road, Mesa, phone (480) 472-8198
Furniture, equipment and vehicles
The Property Management Department accepts furniture, equipment and vehicles to benefit students and student organizations. For information, call (480) 472-0973.
Holiday Drives
Many schools conduct Thanksgiving and Christmas drives for toys, food, clothing, personal hygiene and household items to benefit needy families and charities. Contact a school in your neighborhood.
To donate to districtwide drives that benefit families with students in the Migrant Child Education Program, call (480) 308-7513.
Mesa Public Schools Foundation
There are many ways individuals and businesses can support students through Mesa Foundation.
Choose a variety of donation options to help fund shoes, clothing, eyeglasses, classroom projects, Battle of the Books, instrumental and choral music activities, mentors, financial aid for prekindergarten and child care, emergency medical care, dental care and volunteer appreciation awards.
Musical Instruments
New and used musical instruments are greatly appreciated by the Music Education Program. Used instruments are refurbished thanks to a grant from the Mesa Foundation for Educational Excellence. All instruments are donated to band and strings classes at schools where the need is greatest. Call (480) 308-7350 if you would like to discuss your donation.
