Important mask update from Dr. Fourlis

(The following message will also be shared with all district families later this afternoon.)

Hello Mesa Public Schools community,

Today's update on the Maricopa County of Public Health school district dashboard does not include any high-transmission indicators for Mesa Public Schools. As a result, starting Monday, May 3, we will transition to Phase 2 of the revision to our mask mandate.

Monday, May 3, masks will be strongly recommended but not required in school and district buildings. We want to emphasize that masks will remain part of our mitigation strategy in phase 2, and they will be used as needed. We will continue to monitor and review data school by school, program by program, classroom by classroom. We will be hypervigilant and fast-acting as we use this data to determine if mask mandates or quarantines will be necessary.

Our phased approach proceeds with caution. Our schools and departments want to help, and we strongly encourage our families and staff to reach out to their leadership for assistance. We are committed to doing all we can to make accommodations.

Thank you for your continued support,
