Mrs. Park led our Edison Student Council in the Hankies for Hannah drive associated with Phoenix Children's Hospital. We appreciate your support in helping to make this donation.
Edison Staff earned nearly $400 for the PTO at McTeacher's Night in March. Thanks to all that came out to support us.
Mrs. Wyatt led the 3rd graders and the Edison choir in a night of music and fun to showcase her curriculum. Students sang, danced and played instruments to show their development this year. The Choir performed 5 songs that night as well to link their district performances.
Mayor Scott Smith visited the Edison Head Start program to see the progress students are making in preparing for the challenges of Kindergarten that are ahead.
Brian Bradshaw was recently awarded a DonorsChoose grant for educational games and language skills materials.
Karrene Park was recently awarded a DonorsChoose grant for educational games for math and her tutoring groups to reinforce concepts while improving skills.
Sandra Alston will lead the Edison Orchestra at the February 12th MPS School Board Meeting as the featured musical performers. We are so proud of them being honored with this opportunity (click here to listen and watch their performance).
Edison's Student Council sponsors Karrene Park and Heidi Cave helped organize our student leaders to collect 871 cans of food for the Salvation Arny this past holiday season. Thanks to all our families for their contributions to help out those in need. Our donations helped over 300 families this season.
Deb Taylor was recently recognized for 5 years of perfect attendance as as a teacher. She attended the Board meeting to receive her award.
Heidi Cave, a sixth grade teacher was recently awarded a grant from Donors Choose to support her extension learning activities in her classroom. She will use the funds for materials to support her after school programs.
Nurse Joleen Wheeler, sponsored dozens of students for a trip to a Winter Wonderland in conjunction with CARE Partnership. Students and volunteers traveled to Phoenix to take part in a wonderful day of games, food and fun. Thanks to Joleen and Jackie for getting student ready to attend this great event.
Karen Mountford, Edison Media Specialist, helped students raise over $892 for a penny drive for charity during our Book Fair in December. Scholastic will match our donation amount for their All for Books program. Scholastic donated 892 books to charity as a result of our drive. Great Job!!!
Alexis Soloff, a new third grade teacher to Edison, was awarded a funding grant from Donors Choose to purchase math and reading games for her classroom. Her grant will also see additional funding from Horace Mann in thier matching program.
Edison was awarded funding for the MPS grant from BOEING to help them participate in the Beat the Odds program. Thanks to BOEING for sponsoring the membership for this administrative program.
Debbie Wolf, has been awarded a MVP award from Debbie Pangrazi MPS PE director for her outstanding role and leadership for the Edison Jogging club. She was awarded a $200.00 Visa card to spend on "anything healthy" that involves her students here at Edison Elementary. She is choosing to use her money for a Health Fair for the 2012-13 school year.
