Teacher in Residence Program (TIR)
Mesa Public Schools will consider candidates interested in teaching in the following areas for the TIR program. 

  • Special Education, K-12 grade 
  • Early Childhood Special Education, Birth - 3rd grade
  • Math, 7-12 grade
  • Science, 7-12 grade (General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science)
  • English, 7-12 grade
  • Foreign Languages, 7-12 grade (Chinese, Spanish)
  • Elementary Education, K-6

Teacher Intern Fast Facts

TIR programs are designed to be completed in 2 years:

  • During the 2 years you are a full time teacher AND a full time student
  • Candidate must hold a BA degree from an accredited institution
  • Candidate must hold a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP - Identity Verified Prints)
  • To obtain an IVP fingerprint:  https://www.azdps.gov/services/public/fingerprint  Click "apply for card" and follow directions
  • Questions about the fingerprint process?  Call 602-223-2279   
  • Candidate must pass the appropriate NES subject test for the subject to be taught.
  • Candidate will need to enroll in an Arizona State Board approved alternative path to certification program or an Arizona State Board approved educator preparation program


Before submitting an online application with Mesa Public Schools please have:

  • Unofficial passing results of NES subject test
  • Receipt of an Arizona IVP fingerprint card application
