Welcome to the Intermediate Moderate Needs classroom at Johnson Elementary! I'm excited to be your child's teacher!
In our class students work hard each day to learn skills and lessons that will help them to more appropriately access, and contribute to, the world around them.
I graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Masters in Education: Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in elementary reading.
Upon graduation from ASU, I had already been hired by Mesa Public Schools. My first year of teaching included working at many different schools in many different types of classrooms. Going from school to school gave me lots of experiences to bring to my own classroom when I got hired at Johnson. I have been teaching at Johnson Elementary since August 2007. We have a great team here!
I believe that there is power in teaching with music. So, if you come into our room and stay for very long, chances are you'll probably hear a song (or two...or a few) to enhance the learning that's happening in our class! I believe that all children can learn and that learning should be fun and meaningful. I love being a special education teacher and am grateful for the challenges and successes that happen daily in my classroom. We learn from both the hard times AND the happy times!
Fair isn't everyone getting the same thing.
Fair is everyone getting what they need in order to be successful!
