Keller's Dual Language Program
Dual Language Program
Keller Elementary provides a Dual Language program for parents who choose this option for their children. The goal of our program is to create students who are bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural giving them a competitive advantage in the future workforce of a global economy. Our Dual Language program has been in existence since 2006 and has seen success each year as students in this program consistently meet and exceed the state standards.
Parents elect to place their children in this program to provide their children with the opportunity to become literate in both English and Spanish. Teachers in the Dual Language program are committed to delivering Arizona's College and Career Readiness Standards within a 50/50 model. This means instruction is deliver half of the day in English and half of the day in Spanish. The Spanish instruction focuses on listening, speaking, vocabulary, writing, and reading and is taught every day.
Students in the Dual Language program are assessed and participate in tiered instruction along with all students in the school. Continued study, and articulation of the AZCCR standards allow Keller to clearly define instruction for all groups of students and the targeting of skills at each student's instructional level to ensure that everyone's academic needs have been met.
