Levels of Education This year, students will explore new processes and concepts in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Students will get the chance to collaborate and interact with other fifth grade students to practice these new concepts.

Students will be doing book studies to improve reading fluency and comprehension skills. Each book study will introduce students to the vocabulary and we will practice new comprehension skills. The class will read each chapter of the book either together, with a partner, or individually in class and have work that connects to that chapter.

Students will practice grammar and use a process to write essays this year. Each students will learn a new grammar tool to improve their writing skill. Students will learn that writing is a process. Students will practice brainstorming, drafting, editing, revising, and final writing. Students will also learn how to incorporate quotations into their writing to enhance their point of views.

In math, students will use My Math and create a math notebook with resources to help solve problems. My Math is a workbook students can practice new math concepts. Students will create a math notebook that hold steps and resources to help work through the My Math workbook.

Students will use the scientific method to work through science activities.

Socials will give students the chance to learn about American History. "History! Alive" gives students the chance to think about what it would be like to be the Native Americans and Europeans and how America became America.
