Arizona State Seal of Biliteracy
https://www.mpsaz.org/worldlanguages
The Arizona State Seal of Biliteracy recognizes students who graduate from an Arizona school who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. The Seal of Biliteracy encourages students to pursue biliteracy, honors the skills students attain, and can be evidence of skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions offices.
The seal requires students to show high levels of proficiency in English by successfully completing all English requirements for graduation with an overall grade point average in those classes of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Students must also show high levels of proficiency in English by receiving a passing score in English Language Arts on the required (AzMERIT) state assessment. Students must attain the required score on a language assessment as adopted by the State Board of Education. Students who successfully complete the requirements will earn a seal on their high school diploma.
MPS students interested in The Arizona State Seal of Biliteracy will need to meet the state requirements and apply through the district’s World Languages Department by the end of the first quarter of their senior year. Visit the World Languages website for more information and the complete application process.
