Tribute to Carol Walton
Carol's devotion to Stevenson Elementary is incredible. Every day, she is on campus, helping English language learners.
Carol's students are acclaimed for their incredible achievement. She's rewarded students with pizza parties, paid for out of her own pocket, to celebrate their success with math facts.
Last Christmas, Carol ensured all of her students were adopted by her neighbors in the Crescent Run housing community. Fifty students received at least three gifts each, and Carol's friends were thanked with songs and smiles.
Carol is such a treasure that she was asked to become an employee. However, she declined because she didn't want to take the job from someone who could use the money. In her words, "the children and the progress they make, along with all of the smiles she sees" is the only payment she needs.
Carol, thank you for your dedication to Stevenson Elementary. We are pleased to honor you as a Mesa Public Schools Volunteer of the Month.
Volunteer of the Month prizes
