(Make a Note) Performing Arts Concerts

                This week, our performing arts classes will have a live concert on the south basketball courts starting at 7pm.  Please check the calendar for your student’s concert. Since we will be on the courts, families will need to provide their own seating. You can bring camping chairs, blankets, etc. There will be plenty of room for families to spread out so please make sure to practice social distancing to the greatest extent possible.

(Make a Note) Last Week of School (next week)

                Last week will be our final school week for the year.  Most teacher’s final date for late work or make up work will be Friday 5/14/21.  Your student will need to work hard to turn in any final work by the end of this week.  8th Graders will turn in their computers on Wednesday.  Remote students may begin to turn in their computers after 2:30pm on Wednesday 5/19.  Students turning in their computers will need to return their computer and their charging cable.  If students do not turn in either one, they will be fined the replacement costs of the computer.

Next Wednesday, 5/19, will be the final day of classes for remote students.  Please review your student’s grades and make sure that they’ve turned everything in by Friday 5/14.

                MORE is now open for the 21-22 school year.  Every year we ask parents to update their student and family information.  Get a jump start on next year’s process by completing your MORE now.  Remember you will need Parent Portal access for your family.  If you need assistance with your access key please contact Poston’s Registrar at 480-472-2102 or mjhernandez@mpsaz.org

(Make a Note) School Policies

Cell Phones – Students may bring phones to school, but they must be turned off and in their backpacks from 9:15 to 4:00.  If your child is in Reteach or Think Tank, their phones will be turned off as well. 

Dress Code – As weather warms up, please review the school dress code to ensure clothing worn to school meet the guidelines.  They may be found on our website or in the student handbook/agenda.

Dropping off or Picking up Students – Remember that we require that parents come into the office to sign out or sign in students.  If picking up your student, we require photo ID to ensure safety.  If your child is running late to the start of the day and you do not have time to sign them in, please call and leave a message for our attendance clerk.  She will follow up with your student to make sure that his attendance and planner are checked appropriately.  Please remember that from about 8:45 to 9:30, Poston’s front office is very, very busy.  If someone does not answer their phone, please leave a message and they will follow up.

If you plan on picking your child up towards the end of the day, please do so before 3:30 or wait until 4pm.  This prevents traffic from building up in the front office and front parking lot.

Poston Outfitters

                The Outfitters is a HUGE success! We’ve been open before school, lunches, and after school.  Student’s love shopping using their PAWS Tickets.  It’s been a great way to support our schoolwide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program.  If you are going to do some spring cleaning, feel free to donate your new and gently used clothing, accessories, shoes, games, sports equipment, etc. to Poston Outfitters.  Drop off donations any time from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday in Poston’s front office (the office will be closed during Spring Break). We are closer than Goodwill and Deseret Industries for drop off and anything we don’t use will be handed on to other organizations for their use.

Remote Attendance

                As a reminder, all remote students must attend virtual classes each day.  They must begin the class with their camera on.  Teachers may allow students to turn them off with a visual check in at the end of the period.  If your student does not have their camera on or contact the teacher, they will be marked absent from class.  If students have 10 full days of absences, they will be dropped from enrollment at Poston Junior High.
