Shredding Questions and Answers
Step-by-Step process: You will be furnished secure, locked bins at your location. You will deposit your confidential papers to be destroyed in the bins. The bins will be picked up based on schedule and replace with empty bins. The full bins will be transported via sealed truck to ASDD secure facility for destruction.

Can I move the Bins around our facility as needed?

Yes – however, to keep the bins secure they must be kept inside the building. Do not place your bins outside of the building at any time.

Are the bins locked?

Yes by lock and key provided by the vendor ASDD. Each location will be provided a main key that will be kept by the Principal Secretary or main contact at each location. The key will be documented and tracked by ASDD. Purchasing will not have additional replacement keys available.

How do I know if we need additional bins for our location?

Fill your bins up to the top! The 64 Gallon Bin can hold 200 lbs. of paper. The 95 gallon bin capacity 300 lbs. of paper. Purchasing will review shredding records to evaluate the shredding needs and service for each location.

Do I need to sort our items?

Yes. Do not place 3 ring binders, binder clips, and mixed media products like ID cards, laminations or any other form of plastic items. Doing so will create an additional cost.

How much space do we need to place these bins at our location?

The 95 Gallon Bin is 34” Deep x 26.5” Wide x 46” High. The 64 Gallon Bin is 29.5” Deep x 23.25” Wide x 40.25” High.

Will these bins replace our recycle containers?

No. This service is for protecting confidential information. These bins are not for disposal of cardboard or plastic items.

How does this change the way we shred our documents?

This service will not come out of your budget. It will free up room at your site, no more storage of banker box, copy paper boxes and miscellaneous boxes stored with confidential information in unsecure areas. No more scheduling MDC to move boxes of unsecure documents for shredding. This program will also eliminate the noise and paper dust produced by shredding machines.

We like to do our shredding by hand. Can we still order shredders through the Purchasing Department?

The new shredding program is best cost effective and secure way to dispose of your sensitive documents. Reqs for shredding machines or additional shredding services will be reviewed by the Director of Purchasing.

Can I close out my current Purchase Order?
