The Audubon Society
In 1905 the Audubon Society was founded. Today it provides educational opportunities about the importance of conservation as well as avenues for people to help. People's impact on nature is covered in grades 1, 2, 5, & 6. (1.L4U3.11, 2.E1U3.7, 5.L4U3.11, 6.L2U3.11) National Bird Day is January 5th.

John Hancock's Birthday
John Hancock, a prominent figure in the American Revolution and a signer of the Declaration of Independence was born on January 11, 1737. (5.E2.1)

Also in January was the end of the Revolutionary War. The war ended on January 14, 1783 with a peace signing.
Amelia Earhart Day
